Soromundi’s Diversity Committee has been working behind the scenes to gather some resources we all can use in our goal of addressing racism. We will be adding to these resources over time but feel these recommendations from The Schomburg Center are a great place to dive in. Feel free to check them out. The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem, one of The New York Public Library’s renowned research libraries, is a world-leading cultural institution devoted to the research, preservation, and exhibition of materials focused on African American, African Diaspora, and African experiences. The titles on the lists below represent books that the center and the public turn to regularly as activists, students, archivists, and curators, with a particular focus on books by Black authors and those whose papers the center stewards.
